Anyone working as a handyman, repair professionals or home improvement or renovation expert needs to have a good understanding of how to make very difficult projects simple and easy. By having these time and stress saving items on hand, such as a good range of panel clips, you can take a big job and make it easy.

Depending on where you are and who you are talking to, panel clips may also be called Z clips. Once you see one of these, you will understand why the name is so accurate, and it makes it an easy way to remember these very practical additions to any tool kit.

Sizing Z Clips

In any size of Z clip there are two matching clips. One may be longer, in the form of a hanger bar, or they can be shorter more like a clip. The size of the panel clips is a function of the size of the object that needs to be mounted on the wall as well as its weight.

The heavier and bulkier the object is the longer the Z bar hanger should be. With smaller, lighter objects one or more panel clips may also be used. The two components of the clip are each attached to the object and the wall. The clip on the object will have the screw side of the clips to the top, and the bar on the wall will have the screws to the bottom.

Attaching and Detaching

To attach the two and mount the object on the wall, simply lift the object over the wall mounted side of the panel clips and slide the object down until the two tops of the “z” formation lock into each other.

Removing the object is also not a problem, just reverse the process and slide up and out. As there is no wire, tape or other flimsy types of fasteners, the object will stay mounted in position on the wall even with minor vibrations and even if it is bumped.

By using z clips as hangers, there is no guesswork as to where or how the item will hang as it will be held in place where the two sides of the clips come together. This takes all of the guesswork out of hanging pictures or mirrors, and with leveling when attaching the clips, they will hang straight every time.

The practical nature of panel clips makes them a perfect choice for hanging pegboard in a garage, mounting a medicine cabinet in the bathroom, or even handing heavier mirrors or pictures throughout the house.
