Now that you have started your search for Ulster County Real Estate and are looking at Real Estate Listings in the Hudson Valley, it’s time you knew about another fellow who moved to the Hudson Valley from out of state.  His name is Ichabod Crane, and as the protagonist of Washington Irving’s Legend of Sleepy Hollow, this is one of the earliest and most iconic characters from American literature.

Funny Name, Foolish Guy

Ichabod Crane got his first name from a minor character in the Biblical First Book of Samuel.  He worked as a teacher in Connecticut before making the Hudson Valley into his new Home.  Selling, buying, and other practical pursuits were never his thing.  He would have gone broke if not for his talent for charming the women of his new home town of Sleepy Hollow into inviting him for meals; he had a huge appetite.  Unfortunately, Ichabod was as gullible as he was gluttonous, and he believed the legend about a headless horseman who haunted the town.  The part of the story you probably know is the one where his enemies played on his fear of the headless horseman and ran him out of town by scaring him away. Of course, today the people of the Hudson Valley are much more welcoming of new neighbors, and Win Morrison Realty will give you straight facts about the home you are considering buying.

Just One of the Hudson Valley’s Colorful Characters

Ichabod Crane may be a fictional character, but plenty of very interesting real people have bought Ulster County Real Estate and made the Hudson Valley their home.  Ulster County is the site of scenic wineries and splendid Gilded Age mansions.  It has been inhabited and visited by business tycoons, authors, and many other people who have made their mark on history.
