You Need These Items to Start a Snow Plow Business in Pennsylvania

by | Feb 12, 2020 | Equipment

Pennsylvania is a state that gets a lot of snow each winter. Blizzards can leave people stuck in their homes, or leave their cars buried under a freezing pile of snow. That means there is an opportunity to have a lucrative snow plowing business. In order to start a snow plowing business, there is some snow removal equipment for the Pennsylvania area you’ll have to invest in. Check out the list below.

1. Pickup Truck

You need a pickup truck to carry your snow removal equipment in Pennsylvania. It needs to be a heavy-duty pickup truck that can stand up to the force of snow and ice.

2. Snowplow

You’ll need a snowplow to attach to the front of your truck. This will allow you to move massive amounts of snow at one time. Popular plows are the scoop plow, the v-plow, or the c-plow.

3. Hopper

A hopper is necessary to spread rock salt or ice melt. You could start with one of the more inexpensive hoppers and work your way up as your business progresses.

4. Rock Salt or Ice Melt

There is no point in getting a hopper if you aren’t going to get stuff to go in it. Both do the same job so it’s a matter of which one you prefer to use.

5. Shovels

Your truck will do most of the heavy lifting, but at some point, you’ll probably have to shovel by hand. Keep an array of shovels handy for this purpose.
