3 Things to Know Before You Eat Lobster

Fresh steamed lobster in Boston during the summer is an excellent treat. But here are a few things you’ll want to know before you start cracking a whole one open.

Pick a restaurant

If you’re in town for a few days, you’ll want to choose a good seafood restaurant where you could try the dish. Check out the restaurant’s reputation and menu first, though. You’ll want to go to the famous Faneuil Marketplace to get your taste of New England lobster. With plenty of excellent restaurants around, you won’t have a hard time finding one.

Get them steamed

Long considered to be a luxury dish, lobster remains on top of the list of people’s favorite crustacean. The scrumptious, yummy taste is hard to forget. But while it offers significant amounts of important minerals and vitamins, you’ll want to take them in moderation. Instead of eating lobster that’s been in cooked in salt-rich sauces or dipped in butter, it may be better for you to go with steamed lobster in Boston instead to stay well within the recommended amount of cholesterol and sodium for the body.

Know how

Get the most meat out of every single one on your plate or bucket. Grab the tail at the top. Twist and pull this away from the body so you can separate the meat and the shell, The Spruce Eats says. Use a knife to cut the tail down, lengthwise. This move should help you get all the tail meat in one piece. If you don’t succeed, that’s fine. Do it to the next one. Once that’s done, crack those claws open and pull the meat out. This may seem tedious but it’s worth it when you see how much meat—nearly an entire tail’s worth—you can get out of those claws.
