When it comes to patient care portability, as well as durability and accuracy, are always important factors to consider. The GE DASH monitor offers all three. With full wireless capacity or connection through an internet connection, this is a very practical monitor in any patient care setting.
There are several different DASH monitors available from the smaller 3000 model to the much larger 5000 model with a wider range of features and functions. Choosing between the three different sizes and monitor options will be a factor of the type of use and the specific needs of the medical facility.
The Design
Each of the GE DASH monitor options is designed for practical use in crowded health care facilities and patient care rooms. For convenience and to manage cables and cords, all of the patient cables will connect into the right side of the monitor, allowing for optimization of the setup without multiple cable connection locations.
There is also a built-in writer on the unit, and it is accessed through the left side. Again, with each unit consistent in design staff familiar with the DASH monitor can complete connections, check batteries, change the settings on the display and even check the writer with ease.
An additional option on all monitors will be the alarm lights that are on the top of the monitor or on the handle. These can flash red if specific parameters are exceeded or yellow if they are reaching the parameters as set by the staff. The other lights on the unit are used to indicate if the system is plugged in or running on battery power. Other lights include a signal for the battery charge as well as a when there is a low battery.
Options to Consider
Depending on the specific needs of the medical and patient care facility, the GE DASH monitor options feature several optional components. This includes a docking station, which provides an Ethernet connection to the system when the monitor is in place. Once removed from the docking port the wireless card can be used to continue to transmit data.
With an optional connection to a remote display, information can be viewed from the GE DASH monitor in another room, or even on a larger monitor at a nursing station or other location. The technology allows for remote viewing up to 150 feet of the monitor.
Finally, these systems also offer the convenience of remote control. This is ideal for staff as the monitor can be placed where needed and controlled from across the room. The control features specific hard keys that are most commonly needed for all types of neonatal, general patient and surgical room applications.
