The Universite Kinshasa is one of three unique public universities that were developed from the division of the National University of Zaire in 1981. Located just 15 kilometers from the center of the city of Kinshasa, which is the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the university boasts a thriving campus with ten different academic departments. You can seek information of Universite Kinshasa from a directory like the Biz Congo Directory.

Staff and Students

Students attending the Universite Kinshasa can take full advantage of the high tech educational programs offered. Through partnerships with both the United National Development Programme as well as software giant Cisco, students can participate in the most advanced networking and software courses available anywhere. These courses are available to students in fully online format, allowing more students to attend than would be possible with traditional on-campus programs in this field.

There are over 1500 staff members and 26,000 students, with numbers on the rise on each year. Research is an active part of the campus and, within the various faculties, students are able to participate in local and national projects as part of their education. With increasing funding from outside sources, including specific program support in different departments by the countries of Belgium, Germany, Canada, India and China, students are provided with the latest in research and technology within their chosen field of study.

Academic Programs

Currently students can select from 10 different academic faculties including those in Health Science, Medicine, Humanities, Science, Engineering and Technology, Business, Law, Arts and Psychology and Education. As with all universities students are encouraged to complete general courses in their first year of study, gradually specializing and majoring in areas of interest as their progress through their years of study. Most students attending are citizens of the Democratic Republic of the Congo but international students, many from surrounding countries, attend the University for their Degree.

Outreach Programs

In addition to degree programs of Universite Kinshasa, it also provides technical support, education and resources to the communities within the Democratic Republic of the Congo. These services include helping to develop rural areas of the communities and assisting with food production through traditional farming and fish farming. These outreach programs are supported by partnering countries through the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences.
