If you are; whose idea was it and for what purpose? Also, do you know about it and do you approve its taking place? I suppose that, if you are criminally inclined and up to no good; you might take strong exception to anybody trying to monitor your actions at any time – let alone 24/7 all year round. However, for the normal, law abiding citizen – what have they got to hide? OK, there might be some intimate moments in anyone one’s life that are best kept secret; but, having somebody watch over us for our own protection should, surely, be a welcome thing that we would all approve of?
Property Surveillance
Without going into any sort of law and order debate; I think that it is fair to say that most of us have concerns over the security of our property – both the physical buildings and the contents contained therein. When we are in occupation, we can “keep an eye on things”; but, in these days of armed home invasion will that be totally effective? And, what about the times when the premises will be left totally empty of people? In addition, it is not only humans with bad intentions that can put or property and lives at risk; the likes of fire and natural catastrophes can and will wreck considerable damage if not counteracted in time – i.e. as soon as possible.
Alarms
A good way to obtain warnings about threats to your property is to install alarms – fire alarms, intruder alarms, etc. Unfortunately, no matter how effective these are at detecting something amiss; we do not have (or are not allowed to have) alarms that can make decisions and take correct actions when they do detect something. True, a fire alarm can turn on a sprinkler system (could be awkward if it’s a false alarm) but no intruder alarm is allowed to spray your front yard with bullets if it detects movement out there.
Normally, the basic alarms simply ring a bell or turn on a siren and, then, hope that someone hears it and decides what to do about it. Not the most satisfactory solution and one that really does need to be improved if it is to provide good all round protection.
Security companies in Chicago like Alert Protective Services are very much aware of such shortcomings and they have developed monitoring systems that will not only keep your property under surveillance but will also ensure qualified human intervention whenever the alarm goes off.
