Many contractors in the PA area need air compressors for their livelihood. In fact, there are times when you may need compressor in PA. When you rent this kind of equipment, it’s important to know what to do, how to use it and how to take care of it, and these tips can help.

Before Starting the Motor

Service people at the rental company should check out your equipment beforehand, but don’t assume this is the case. Before you start the engine, look at the equipment carefully. Look for signs of damage or unusual wear and tear.

Check the engine oil before starting. If it’s low, tell the rental service and then ask them what kind of oil the motor takes. By contacting your rental service, you let them know that something is wrong and you won’t put the wrong kind of motor oil in.

Check the fuel level and make sure you use the recommended fuel. If the fuel level is low, then fill the tank. This saves you the time and trouble of refueling soon.

If you rent an electric air compressor, check the cord and make sure there are no loose wires or other problems. Make sure to use a grounded outlet and if you need a ground-fault outlet, don’t use a standard electrical circuit.

For trailer mounted units, check the suspension, wheels, and air in the tires. Also look to see if the trailer hitch is in good condition.

Read all information that comes with the compressor. Also, make sure to wear the right safety gear for the job.

After Starting

Make sure you have adequate ventilation for gas or diesel-powered units. Keep the machine on a level surface, contact Air Center Inc.
